David Criss

Growing up in Burkburnett Texas, David learned to shoot straight, talk plain and never run from a fight for what’s right.  After graduation from Burkburnett High School, David stayed close to home attending Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.  While a student at Midwestern, David found himself in the middle of organizing a successful campaign for Amarillo attorney Beau Boulter, who was elected to the United States Congress during David’s junior year.  After graduation with a degree in criminal justice, David went to work full time managing political matters and legislation for Congressman Boulter, State Senator Teel Bivins and Senator Kay Hutchison.  Additionally, David served as a member the Texas State Incentive and Productivity Commission.

In 1993, after eight successful years of assisting elected officials, David decided it was time for a change and started to SMU Law School.   While at SMU, David was invited to join the SMU Law Review Association, an invitation extended to roughly the top 10% of students.  David was also a member of the Board of Advocates where he began to build his litigation skills. David graduated Cum Laude and accepted his first legal position with the 100 year old firm of Burford and Ryburn.  David’s early career was comprised of a mix of litigation, representation of medical professionals and business representation, which remains true today.

During his legal career, David has obtained numerous successful settlements and jury verdicts for his clients.  Additionally, he has successfully lobbied the legislature on behalf of his clients, and assisted many businesses with complex legal matters.  David is also regularly invited to present legal information to gatherings of legal and medical professionals and has published numerous articles on a variety of legal issues.  David is a member in the Texas Bar Association, Dallas Bar Association, and the American Health Lawyers. 

David and his wife, Ronda will celebrate 25 years of marriage this year and could not be more proud of their two daughters.  David is involved with Trinity River Mission, which provides mentoring to students in West Dallas.  David is also involved in his church and organizations at his children’s school.  When not working or volunteering, David can often be found fishing, golfing, or spending time with his family.
